TOP SHELF
Bringing Back The Good Times
Their musical explosion started in May of 2024, when four gifted musicians came together to create Kentucky's, TOP SHELF BAND. The goal from day one was to develop a specific sound, by writing and performing unique and genre busting music. Today, the Top Shelf Band has become one of the best live touring bands anywhere.
Since their inception, they have self-produced two albums, with a third album scheduled for 2027. The band's very first show was a 2 hour live streamed performance, viewed in 27 states by over 10,000 people.
It's the energy, the music, and their passion that drives the band. Top Shelf is a subsidized project, allowing them to devote 100% of their energy to writing music, performing, and charitable activities with kids and dogs.
Top Shelf is media savvy and has enjoyed extensive television, radio, and digital media coverage. They are involved in Animal Advocacy fundraising, including recent shows for The Human Society and The Animal Haven.
Like great bourbon, each Top Shelf song is created to stand on its own, with multi-genre overtones that keep audiences moving and engaged. Live videos don't lie! Check out Top Shelf videos and you'll learn why they are an emerging force in Rock music.

Steve Thompson
Keys / Vocalist
Steve has been playing music since he was 3 years old. He is classically trained and was a competitive trumpeter. He began his transition to rock music at the age of 10 and started playing in Detroit clubs at 13. A product of the Detroit/Ann Arbor music scene, Steve relocated to Grand Rapids and formed the touring band 240 Front. He is known for his powerful vocals and unique keyboard style. Steve lives to connect with audiences and share the fire of Top Shelf music.

Talon
Guitarist
Talon is from Oklahoma and has toured with a variety of bands. His versatility as a guitarist provides the true grit and power of Top Shelf music. Being the only guitar in Top Shelf, Talon morphs between genres, chromatic transitions and from rhythms to leads. He lives for creativity, with amazing continuity. Talon is the band's creative and Social Media Director. He designs Top Shelf logos; album covers and the band's merchandise.

Bruce
Percussionist
The heartbeat of Top Shelf belongs to Austin Bruce. Not only is he a direct descendent of the King of Scotland, but he is also a true fusion drummer. His ability to play multiple styles and genres elevates Top Shelf music to new dimensions. A multi-rhythmic machine, Bruce cuts through time in fractional increments, with prevision and clarity. Unlike some drummers, Bruce is part of the Top Shelf songwriting machine and adds his unique dynamics and rhythms that defines Top Shelf energy.

Penny Thompson
Bass Guitar / Vocalist
Penny is a rock bass legend. She started playing at the age of 10 in her family band, Heavensworth. Penny has toured internationally and is known for her unique playing style.
